3 Simple Wellness Hacks to Find Balance During the Holidays
The holiday season can be a busier time of year with lots of holiday parties, gatherings, celebrations, and rushing around to cross all the items off your list. So with that in mind, today I’m sharing 3 simple wellness hacks to find ‘balance’ during the holiday season.
Hydrate. I can’t emphasize this enough as simple as it sounds. But it’s common to confuse hunger with thirst. Tip: if you have water in front of you you’re more likely to drink it. So fill up that reusable water bottle or mason jar, carry it around with you, and sip throughout the day. Drink a glass of water for every serving of alcohol. Bonus tip: drink a glass of warm lemon water upon waking and then 15-20 min before dinner.
Nourish. Eat a nourishing breakfast and lunch packed with lots of plants for added nutrients along with fat, protein, and carbs for a well-balanced meal. They say eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a pauper (obviously depends on your own hunger + activity levels), but generally speaking. Do not ‘save yourself’ for a big night out.
Mindset. Honor that the holiday season is temporary. Life and food are meant to be enjoyed, and one meal or party (or a few) isn’t going to derail you, unless you let it. Tomorrow is a brand new day to begin again (no need to wait until Monday or the new year). So give yourself permission to let loose, have fun, and enjoy this time of year.
And of course some twisting yoga poses (or any type of movement that FEELS good for YOU) are a great way to stimulate digestion, get a little movement and sweat, and de-stress. Wishing you a joyful holiday season.
