Reflecting and Celebrating Your Success in 2019

So often with the end of the year comes this sense of rush and overwhelm to get everything done, to cross items off the list, and of course a pile of new year resolutions.

We’re so quick to move onto the next thing and don’t take the time to recognize the small and big successes that got us to where we are today. Like the 1% progress that happens each day which may seem really small now, but adds up overtime. Change, growth, and transformation (like this rock formation) takes time, but you have to start somewhere and trust the process along the way.

While improvement and growth is essential, especially when building your own business, it can be easy to get caught up in the mentality of always striving to do better, be better, and do more to the point that it can be exhausting. It’s almost as if we define our success by quantity and numbers alone, and do get me wrong I’m a big numbers gal, but I’m also finding that prioritizing my health and well-being is crucial. Personally, I’ve found that hustle and rest need to co-exist for sustainability and of course to avoid burnout

At my old job each week we had to create an accomplishment list. At the time I used to roll my eyes because it was just anything thing to do on a Friday afternoon. And to be honestI don’t know how seriously they were taken, but anyways I divert. Looking back I do see the value in taking the time to recognize your accomplishments, big and small.

Here’s a few things from 2019 that I’m proud of:

1. Graduating with an MBA. It felt like forever juggling grad school, corporate life (back in the day), 2 dogs, a commute, a wedding, etc. Commencement finally brought closure to that chapter of my life (5 years total).

2. Taking private yoga + health coaching clients and hosting group events. I’ve been holding back for some time on putting myself out there as both a yoga teacher + health coach with lots of fear, self-doubt, and comparison. This year has been about moving beyond fear and trusting that I’ve got nothing to lose.🧘🏻‍♀️

3. Growing my instagram account {slow + steady} to almost 1k. For a while I was hesitant to jump on social media, but I’ve learned that it is such a great platform for connection, inspiration, education, and creativity. I’m BEYOND GRATEFUL for all of the love, inspiration, and ongoing support.

4+. Progress with hormone health, getting my leg up in eka pada koundinyasana, learning to say NO more and honor boundaries, trying qigong yoga, running a half marathon PR, and so much more.

So take a moment if you haven’t yet already and instead of picking yourself apart for the things that haven’t done or adding onto your to-do list, why not make an accomplishment list and celebrate how far you’ve come.
