Cajun Fries
These cajun fries are air-fried, packed with flavor and perfect way to celebrate fryday!
Winter has me craving all sorts of comfort food, most of which is connected to childhood memories. And if you know me by now, I’m all for listening to + nourishing those cravings, and everything in moderation. Anyways, these fries bring me back to these frozen + baked curly Cajun style fries I used to eat growing up as a kid. Yes, I used to loveee all sorts of frozen style prepared foods growing up.
That said, these homemade Cajun fries will not disappoint. While they’re not curly bc ain’t nobody got time for that today, they’re packed with flavor and are easy to whip up. No air fryer, no worries, toss them in the oven (at 450 F) and bake instead.
INGREDIENTS:
2 medium sized russet potatoes
avocado oil or olive oil
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon cumin
1/2 teaspoon fresh thyme
1/4-1/8 teaspoon cayenne
1 teaspoon sea salt (or to taste)
1/2 teaspoon black pepper, ground
1 teaspoon fresh parsley
INSTRUCTIONS:
Preheat air-fryer to 375F.
Slice 2 medium sized russet potatoes the long way into shoe string size pieces. Place potatoes in a mixing bowl, add water to cover, and soak for 10-30 minutes (optional)
Drain the water, pat dry the raw potatoes, place back in the bowl, and drizzle in ~1 tbs avocado or olive oil.
Combine seasoning in a small bowl: 1/2 tsp paprika, 1/2 tsp cumin, 1/2 tsp dried thyme, 1/8-1/4 tsp cayenne pepper depending on your heat preference, 1/2 tsp salt and 1/4 tsp pepper. Mix seasoning together then add to the potatoes, tossing until covered
Place potatoes on a single layer in the air fryer basket and cook for 18-25 minutes until crispy, flipping halfway through. If you want a lil extra crisp, increase the heat to 450 for the last 5 or so minutes.
Top with sea salt to taste, cracked pepper, fresh chopped parsley, and a side of ketchup.
