Peppermint Hot Chocolate

Put on your cozies and do yourself a favor by making this peppermint hot chocolate.

If you don’t know by now, I’m a huge fan of mint chocolate. Give me all the mint chocolate chip ice cream and my new favorite these days is Hu Chocolate Mint Crunch bars.

While I’m not a huge sweet person per se, I do love me a good ol’ mug of hot chocolate during the winter season. Not to mention, I’ve always been a fan of chocolate milk - despite the fact that I’m 34 years old, and to this day it is still one of my favorite drinks and even better, recovering drinks after a solid run in the cold!

Anyways, hot chocolate brings me back to my childhood days when I used to play outside in the snow for hours, then come in to a big mug of the nestle hot cocoa, remember the packets with the marshmallows? Pretty sure I’d put 1.5 packets in mine to make it extra chocolate and marshmallow - haha. And if it wasn’t a cup of hot chocolate, it may have been collecting snow and putting orange juice in it — anyone else?

Ingredients:

  • 1 mug full milk of your choice (I used Maple Hill Creamy grass-fed whole milk, but also love with nut mylk too)

  • 2 tbs raw cacao powder (rich source of polyphenols and abundant in flavanols, which have potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects)

  • 1 tbs dark chocolate (optional)

  • 1-2 tsp maple syrup or 1-2 medjool date

  • Pinch sea salt

  • Dash of cinnamon

  • 1/8-1/4 tsp peppermint extract

Instructions:

Heat milk via stovetop or microwave, then combine all ingredients in a high speed blender, blending until frothy.
